Our Mission
Over the past
few weeks, we laid out the process of becoming and developing Kingdom
Christians here at Hill Point Church. We
have been discussing what it means to be "Fit for the Kingdom" and what it should
look like as we progress in our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. We summarized it this way:
KINGDOM LIFE
Love Jesus (Live- fruit level)
Know Jesus (Grow- Growth Level) Follow Jesus (Connect- Entry Level)
This really
defines Our Mission here at Hill
Point. In a sense, this is what we are
all about.
Stating our
mission in such simple terms is beneficial for us in several ways. First, this helps us bring clarity to our
purpose in a way that everyone is able to understand and articulate. Even a child can express and experience
"Follow Jesus, Know Jesus, Love Jesus."
Second, it correctly suggests movement: the clear process is for each
disciple of Jesus Christ to make progress from following to knowing to loving.
Third, the
simplicity of our mission allows for the various aspects of ministry here at
Hill Point to align themselves with the same common process. That way we don't have people competing but
rather complementing one another in ministry.
And, fourth, it enables us to stay focused on our purpose without
getting distracted, de-railed or misdirected as we go forward. It helps us know what to say "Yes" to and,
maybe more importantly, what we must say "No" to.
This is how
Hill Point Church is going to be engaged successfully in proclaiming the good
news message of the Kingdom of God in the world. This is how we are going to give expression
to the words of the Kingdom and the works of the Kingdom. This is how we are going to represent Jesus Christ
and the Kingdom of heaven which "is at hand" in our community and to our world.
God's plan
for reaching people far from Him has always been to have a people near
Him. As we follow Jesus, know Jesus and
love Jesus, we will continually grow closer in our relationship to Him. As we draw near to God, He will draw near to
us. We will become more dependent upon
Him, more focused on His Word, and more passionate in walking out His
will. Freely we have received, and
freely we will give!
In Jesus our
King,
Pastor Scott
