A Joshua Generation
What is a “Joshua Generation?” We will be introducing
this concept on Sunday mornings
in the weeks to come. This is a phrase I first
adopted in the process of
discovering the place of
ministry God was preparing for
me and my family.
As we interviewed here at
Hill Point last month, I
described a “Joshua
Generation” as those who know
they are departing one place and
arriving at another; a people
who are leaving behind one
aspect of God’s completed
administration, and who are
stepping into a brand new
expression of His ongoing work
in their lives.
“Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past.
Behold, I will do
something new, now it will
spring forth; will you not be
aware of it?” (Isaiah
43:18-19)
As
my family was experiencing this
in our own circumstances, I knew
that God was preparing us for a
people who were also going
through a similar transition.
I
believe we are embarking on a
tremendous journey together here
at Hill Point, the magnitude of
which we cannot begin to
imagine.
However, we can say some
things with absolute certainty
at the outset.
- The
place where God is leading
us is “an exceedingly good
land!”
We must know this and
insist on it regularly,
because our natural senses
will tell us otherwise from
time to time, and the enemy
will never cease to give us
bad reports about the land.
- We
are assembling here at this
time and in this place for
significant Kingdom purpose!
Jesus is building His
Church and we all are
privileged to be a part of
what He is doing.
- None
of us is here by accident.
God is gathering
together, before our very
eyes, those of His calling
and His anointing.
We must each
understand we are here by
His Word and by His Grace,
and love one another into
our full potential in
Christ.
I
thank God for the wonderful
Installation Service we had last
Sunday, and especially for the
obvious commitment to prayer
this congregation has made for
us.
In assuming my
responsibilities as your pastor,
I now have every confidence that
you are standing with us before
His Glorious Throne of grace.
Thank you for such a
moving display of support and
dedication to what God is doing
in our midst.
Walking together with Him!

A Warm Welcome from Pastor Scott
What
an exciting season we are
entering here in 2008!
"Do
not call to mind the former
things, or ponder things of the
past. Behold,
I will do something new, now it
will spring forth; will you not
be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in
the wilderness, rivers in the
desert.” (Isaiah
43:18-19)
All
of us are coming out of
different encounters with
God’s refining and defining
work in our lives – both
individually and corporately. The exciting part is to
see how God is putting all the
pieces back together,
dovetailing our experiences and
respective journeys and building
us as “living stones” into a
spiritual house
where He lives by His Spirit.
We
are continuing to move forward
into God’s purposes for Hill
Point Church. We
continue:
- To
acknowledge the foundation
that already has been laid
- To
receive our mandate now to
build wisely upon that
foundation
- To
honor God who has proven
faithful and is bringing all
of this to pass.
As
many of you know, we have
finally moved into a wonderful
home in Mequon and are thanking
God for His gracious provision. All of our belongings
should arrive by the end of the
month from California, and many
thanks to all who have loaned us
household items for the interim. Your kindness to our
family has been so welcoming and
truly an extension of the love
of Christ towards us!
Walking
together with Him!
Scott
